Jimmy was studying accounting at university and working at Wiggett Group as a part time admin, before deciding to take the leap into a full time position. At that stage, the business was still quite small but the opportunities to grow were becoming apparent, meaning opportunities for people’s careers as well.
Like many people in the company, Jimmy was motivated by an environment that encouraged you to try new things and get involved. That has meant a really diverse working life for Jimmy who first as Commercial Manager and now as Commercial Director, operates across the business, collaborating with different teams to drive efficient systems, implement IT strategies and maintain commercial success.
Jimmy is quick to point out that Wiggett Group has a unique way of working that sets the business apart. When a problem needs solving or a new challenge comes along, everyone jumps in to address it. The pace here, combined with solid commitment, creates a drive you don’t find in many other places.
“It’s really interesting looking back and seeing how much we’ve changed and achieved over the last few years. There’s been massive growth, with two large national accounts meaning we had to revisit and strengthen how we do things. But this company is never afraid of change.
That gives people who join the business space to grow. Roles can open up and you can move sideways into different areas of the business, as well as moving upwards. I tell people to just go for it and to set goals. You never know what’s possible.”
